TREATMENTS AT BODYTREE

Patients from India and the rest of the world are welcome to come and stay at the Bodytree centre to receive Adivasi Ayurvedic treatments. The financial contributions from these treatments help to run the project.

Bodytree's approach to Bodywork:

At Bodytree, we offer an integrated method of Ayurvedic treatment with a modern physiotherapy approach that concentrates on structural integration by improving breathing patterns, teaching yoga stretches and looking at the body in a holistic way. The application of external medicines used in our therapy has its own special effect on tissues and neurology.

Treatments include:

  • Massage
  • Structural integration, yoga and exercise
  • Medicated water dhara
  • Oil dhara
  • Ayurvedic Panchakarma treatments: nasium, shirovasti, vasti, shirodhara, pichu
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Urine therapy

Most of the medicines and oils use at Bodytree are made freshly from local medicinal plants.

Guest Rooms:

Bodytree has four guest rooms with attached bathrooms. The facilities are basic but comfortable. We have electricity connection, but the supply is erratic and often fluctuates.

Bodytree is not a tourist resort and we don't offer Health-spa type facilities. Bodytree members live together as a community and we invite those who visit us to share their experiences and knowledge and to be part of the community during their stay

What to bring

  • Comfortable clothes suitable for a Kerala climate such as loose cottons.
  • A sarong/lungi that you don't mind getting a bit oily after therapy sessions.
  • A hat or cotton scarf to tie around your head. We will insist you cover your head whilst outside.
  • A swimming costume or appropriate clothes to wear in water for hydrotherapy exercise.
  • Simple chappals (flip-flops) to wear around the campus
  • Some good books to fill the time
  • Any music you would like to listen to during your treatment sessions
  • A torch (essential)
  • We will provide simple cotton towels, but you may wish to bring your own if you prefer the chunky type.
  • If you like walking, bring some trainers or sandals good for walking. There are some lovely walks in the rainforest and up around the tea gardens in Ponmudi
  • An umbrella is always useful in Kerala.
  • Something warm for the evenings or if you go up to Ponmudi Hill Station where it can be a bit chilly.
  • A mosquito net
  • Any medical notes
